If you are addicted to genuine vintage shirts, you’ll see how powerful business and promotional power are able to alter and change our very lexicon adjectives. While this may not make a difference while sifting through the jerky “stunning new flavors” and the one with “amazing new flavors”, a trivial transition in expression can produce different whales when adding them to the T-shirt Collection vintage. Thankfully, identifying a small difference between two ordinary words can teach you to avoid a very humongous yet fairly standard error. The term “vintage”, for example, shows something that was actually produced in the past, like certain vintage cheeses. Or the 1949 baseball card Satchel Paige.
Or even a Guns N Roses T-shirt that’s been sitting in your dresser drawer since the 80s. “Retro,” on the contrary, is defined as a newly finished product but a nod to the previous trend. Retro is more like a remake or a clone of something vintage, but it is not actually a vintage itself. The newly finished torn jeans are reproduced. The side of the ponytail is retro. Socks of yellow colored christmas retro. Regrettable, but retro. To make it even simpler, if you hit a thrift store and get some 80s tee you had previously, it is vintage. If you walk to Hot Topic and pluck dough hard for a new black shirt with Beetlejuice on it, it is retro. Right right? So why all this confusion? Well, part of the problem is, for many children, “vintage” and “retro” is nothing but the “old” double tension. Is that vintage Star Wars tee awesome because the shirt is antique, or because the movie is old?

Are vintage music shirts sweet because they are bought in live music venues, or because their group is retro fashionable? A young person often does not bother with it and does not admit discrimination between the two. The second part of the problem is industry. Retro shirts are the latest fads today. Past labels and images of the past have changed very closely. In fact, they evolved so forcefully that the entire population of t-shirt designers stopped the practice of using only Thundercats, A & W Root Beer, or Nirvana logos, and instead began to produce tee in a giving way. Their impression has long been used, loved, and deeply depressed. The effect is a retro tattoo that looks like an honest-to-god vintage t-shirt but it really is not. So, what is a simple vintage shirt worshiper to do? Well, you should be sure you understand the difference between the words “vintage” and “retro.” You can be sure to analyze product details carefully, be aware of the choice of words like “licensed tee” (which will state that the green light to use style, image, and / or idea is purchased but the tee itself is just created).
And, if in doubt, you should always check with the shirt store and ask honestly if their shirts are just retro or actually vintage. Of course, if you are not a fan or an enthusiast, there may be no part of this problem for you. Who, besides collectors, honestly snapping 26-year-old t-shirts? I mean, unlike a vintage bookcase, most things are not seriously designed to fit 20 years later. Especially the clothes. And, even more specifically, low-priced shirts. Perhaps a serious retro t-shirt is the best of both worlds. Or maybe I just feel sad. Some part of me hoped that the phrase “vintage” would be pure and actually applied to my journey to buy an old fantasy novel and an 80s shirt instead of being used to drive the “odd-looking freaks” I suspected I was just old.
